Market Information

Willoughby

Willoughby was named by the explorer and surveyor-general of the colony of NSW, Sir Thomas Mitchell, after his friend Sir James Willoughby Gordon. Willoughby was part of a 600 acre subdivision in the 1850s. In 1932, the opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge accelerated the expansion of Willoughby and gave residents the convenience of a leafy suburb as well as direct access to the city.
